Lawrence has ten years of experience in the mining industry in operational, technical and consulting roles. Lawrence has been a Mining Engineer and Consultant working on projects across Australia, Africa, South America and Europe.
Lawrence is a pit optimisation, pit design and strategic planning specialist. He is a proficient user in Datamine Studio OP/NPVS, Whittle and MineSched among others.
Additionally, he has held site-based positions where he performed drill and blast design, scheduling, operational supervision and production systems implementations.
Rhodes Ridge Joint Venture Due Diligence, Mitsui/Rio Tinto – Australia. Part of a team responsible for the mining due diligence of a multi-billion-dollar joint venture deal. Rapidly optimised and scheduled pit inventories that ran into the billions of tonnes.
Mogalakwena SMU Study & Process Review, Anglo American - South Africa. Selective Mining Unit Analysis using mine-able shape optimiser and model re-blocking, including comprehensive comparison of the two approaches.
Hemerdon Feasibility Study, Tungsten West – United Kingdom. Responsible for Open Pit Optimisation, Design, Scheduling, and Cost Modelling as part of the 2020 and 2022 Feasibility Studies. Using cutting edge design tools to accurately model a pit with complex geotechnical regions.
Multiple Scoping Studies including the successful Cornish Lithium Trelavour 2021 study and various West African Gold Scoping Studies in Sierra Leone, Senegal, Mali and Guinea.
